In order to maintain the same quality health care services we provide you, we have decided to move into Mixed Billing from Bulk Billing as the latter does not provide sufficient financial benefit to meet the demand. Nevertheless, we offer our patients the option of booking an appointment with their preferred Doctor or Nurse in advance, preventing them just sit and wait for hours on. As our patient list grows, we truly intend to expand the number of staff and the opening hours of the Centre.
Patients have the option of paying for certain services if they want to, which is a value-added private service that remains optional- such as for consultations lasting more than 10 minutes by patient choice, for consultations arranged at times not usual for the requested GP, and for certain letters and other items of paperwork.
Medicare occasionally changes the rebates that they are willing to pay for some items of service, never intending that rebate to equal the value of that service, and notice would always be given if any service will thus attract a gap fee. To make matters easier, the centre is obtaining a card machine that allows for payment of any gap fee with instantaneous rebate of the Medicare fee. At the moment, such charges are truly exceptional, and for most patients most of the time the services that we offer are fully mix-billed.
